An application for a permit to build a two-story brick apartment building costing $18,000 at 2137 Highland Avenue was filed yesterday by Huckaby, builder, Sharon Avenue, Glendale. The building will have four four-room apartments. and Brettschneider, 2940 Eggers Place, applied for a permit to build a two-story, brick, concrete, and residence, costing $7,000, on North Bend Road, 370 feet south of Colerain Avenue. Estella M. Webster, 3728 Elsmere Avenue, Norwood, asked permission build a en four-room brick residence, costing $5,000, on the southeast corner of Losantiville and Fairhurst Avenues.

G. V. Lauch, 1424 California Avenue, filed application build a $7,250 two-story duplex brick residence at 1543 Yarmouth Avenue. The building will have two fiveroom apartments. (BY ASSOCIATED PRESS) Attractive Betty Bryant got a surprise reward in addition to her diploma at Denison University's Monday commencement -a kiss from her illustrious uncle, Henry Ford. The Detroit motor magnate, who has been too busy on many occasions to receive honors conferred on him, took time off Monday to pay an unexpected visit to Granville, Ohio, to see Miss Bryant graduated.

As she emerged from the chapel, diploma in hand, Ford kissed her on the lips as admiring students gathered around them. Ford came here with the girl's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Bryant of Dearborn, Mich.

Dr. Edward Dewitt Jones of Detroit, President of the Federated Council of Churches of Christ of America, delivered the commencement address.
