Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13 from PM at the Clepper Funeral Home, Oak- ley. Funeral Services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Beechmont on Friday, April 14 at 10:00 AM. Barbara is survived by her brother Lewis (Mary Jane Stanko) Syroney of Cleveland, OH; seven children: son James (Kar- en Wyson) of Concord, NH; daughter Christine (Rick) Potter-Wroblewski of Cincinnati; son Ed- ward (Ann Clancy) of Arlington, VA; son Frank (Brenda Brown) of Palmyra, PA; son Thomas (Jennifer Wolski) of Cincinnati; son Michael (Teresa Williams) of Pigeon, MI; and son Theo- dore of Covington, KY; and fifteen grandchildren (Jack, Elizabeth, Katherine, Sarah, Nikolai, Polina, Gillian, Collin, Elise, Elaina, Liam, Jessica, Kady, Christopher and Luke). She is also survived by exchange student-daughter Marjolein Crins of The Netherlands.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Carl, Robert, Conrad, and Ralph of Cleveland. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Florence, KY, and a U.S.

Navy Veteran. Ed worked at First Fed- eral Savings and Loan in Covington, KY as an op- erations officer and secretary treasurer. He was a former member of the Boone County Planning and Zoning Board and served several years on the Florence Water and Sewer Commission. Ed was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Helen Shafer, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of years: Barb (Beeg) Shafer; children: David (Dianna) Shafer and Debi (John) Thurza; siblings: Pat (Jill) Shafer and Peggy (the late: Joe) Chalk; grandchildren: Jacob (Ashley) Shafer, Sgt.

Kellie Shafer, Morgan Thurza and Erik Thurza and great-grandson: Emmett Shafer. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 14, 2023 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 7301 Dixie Florence, KY 41042 at 11:15 AM. Online condolences may be expressed on Facebook or at www.conn- leybrothersfuneralhome.com Edward Richie Shafer, III WESTFIELD, IN Patricia Gammon passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel, IN after a brief illness. Pat was surrounded and comforted by her family.

She was 90 years old. Pat Kelly was born in Ashland, KY on March 3, 1932. She was the first child of the late Paul and Laura Kelly. parents divorced when she was young and she and her brother, J.T., were raised by their father, grandfather, and two aunts. Pat was the apple of her eye.

Pat graduated from Holy Family High School in Ashland, KY in 1950 and joined the Congregation of Divine Providence in Melbourne, KY after graduation. Pat was a Sister of Divine Providence for 10 years. The first weekend after leaving the convent, Pat was invited to a party celebrating the opening of the 1960 Summer Olympics. At that party Pat met not only a group of people who would become lifelong friends but also the man she would marry, Joseph Gammon. Pat and Joe were married in May 1962, at the Cathedral Basilica in Cov- ington, KY.

They lived in Cincinnati until the birth of their first child, a daughter they named Patrice but would call Kelly. Within a few months of arrival, Pat and Joe moved back to Ashland, KY, where a year later they welcomed their second daughter, Kathleen, to the family. job in Ashland took the family on the road, traveling from Kentucky to Michigan, Missouri, Texas, Ohio, and Indiana over the next several years before returning to Kentucky, this time to Northern Kentucky, where Pat called home for the next 40 years. Pat began teaching as a Sister of Divine Providence and returned to teach- ing once Kathy and Kelly reached school age. Pat taught 8th grade math and science for over 30 years.

Pat was a lifelong Catholic with a strong devotion to Divine Providence. Through the years, she served as organist at several parishes, as well as a lector and parish council member at St. in Florence, KY. In addition to church service, Pat was always looking for ways to serve and give back. She played the organ at a penitentiary in Ashland, provided music therapy at a psychiatric hospital in Ohio, was a volunteer EMT for the Florence Kentucky rescue squad, and tutored countless numbers of people including neighborhood children, high school students studying for standardized tests and homeless women.

Pat and Joe were both very proud of their Irish heritage and traveled to Ireland on several occasions with their group of friends. In 1979, they began hosting an annual St. Day party. For almost 30 years they hosted this party for a growing number of family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. Highlights of the party were corned beef and cabbage and the rousing sing-alongs she led from the organ.

Pat was a proud and vocal fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. She was especially fond of recounting the story of how she attended the of the between Notre Dame and Ohio State in 1935, as a 3-year-old carried on her shoulders. Pat cherished her role as the matriarch of the Kelly family and will be fondly remembered by the next two generations of In 2013, Pat moved from Northern Kentucky to Central Indiana to be closer to family. The move provided Pat the opportunity to spend more time with her grandson, Peyton, whom she adored. No one could bring a smile to face faster than Peyton.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents Paul Kelly and Laura Porter, step- father Sam Porter, brother J.T. Kelly, cousins Robert J. Kelly, Jr and Timothy M. Kelly and her husband of 46 years, Joseph Gammon. Pat is survived by her daughters Kelly Gammon (Susan McDowell) and Kathy Guider (Mike Brunton) and her grandson, Peyton Guider.

Pat is also survived by many in the Kelly clan and Gammon family. family would like to thank everyone at Independence Village Zionsville East (formerly The Hearth at Tudor Gardens) and Wellbrooke of Westfield for taking such good care of Pat. She was loved by many and will be missed at both. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Pat generously donated her body to the Anatomical Education Program at Indiana University School of Medicine.

The gift will contribute significantly to the advancement of science education in the state of Indiana. Gundrum, Sr. for 55 years. Loving mother of Raymond, Jr. (Denise), Paul (Car- ol), Bryan (Paula), Ei- leen (Rick Ruff), Tracy (Shane) Crosby, Patti (Rick) Cruse and Darryl (Sharon) Gundrum. Cherished grandmother of 20, great-grandmother of 28, and dear aunt of numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucy was the youngest of 13 children born to the late Edward and the late Anna Schmid. Preceded in death by all of her beloved siblings: Mabel, Arthur, Howard, Irven, Mildred, Fred, Loraine, Norbert, Dorothy, Harry, Geneva, and Ethel. Passed peacefully on Good Friday, April 7, 2023 at the age of 91 years, surrounded by her loving family. Lucy retired from after 20 years of service working in their Kopper Kettle Restaurant making many wonderful friends, then thoroughly enjoyed working with family at Servatii Pastry Shop. Mom loved to cook for her family especially at the holidays, and enjoyed taking a leisurely car ride to get a good creamy whip ice cream.

While she like all of the attention on her, she en- joyed seeing all of her family and friends together at her surprise 90th birthday party. Special thanks to her daughter Eileen for her commitment to caring for mom over the past year and Hospice of Cincinnati for their compassionate care.
