12B WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23, 2021 COMMUNITY PRESS NORTHEAST Madeira Chamber announces annual scholarship winners The Madeira Chamber of Commerce has an- nounced two scholarships recipients from the Madei- ra High School Class of 2021. Two scholarships are awarded annually to deserving high school graduates who demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial passion and plan to pursue a career in business. Gabi Hugentobler was awarded the Madeira Cham- ber of Commerce and Madeira Club joint En- trepreneurship Scholarship. Hugentobler will attend Miami University in the fall and plans to study Entre- preneurship at The Farmer School of Business. As part of the Madeira High School Entrepreneurship Class, Gabi founded Smile, a organization to end Cystic Fibrosis.

Under her leadership, the or- ganization held multiple fundraisers and events, rais- ing over $7,700 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in less than two months. Hugentobler is also a member of the National Honor Society and elected leader of Hope Squad. Courtney Culp was awarded the Madeira Chamber of Commerce Scholarship. Culp plans to enroll in the University of Honors Program in the fall where she intends to major in Business with a minor in Spanish. Courtney has received the AP Scholar Award and is an in Madeira High National Honor Society and Student Government.

She is also an award-winning, multi-sport athlete, serving as cap- tain of the Madeira Volleyball and Basketball teams. David Peterson, Madeira Chamber of Commerce Indian Hill High School Moot Court takes second at state Indian Hill High School (IHHS) congratulates the IHHS Moot Court team of Avery Valz, Gulirano Almu- ratova, and Ashwini Krishnan for earning second place in the Ohio Moot Court State Championship tourna- ment held by the Ohio Center for Law-Related Educa- tion (OCLRE) virtually Friday, May 7. marks the time ever that one school has played for both the Mock Trial State Championship and the Moot Court State Championship in the same said Steve Reger, Indian Hill High School teacher and Mock Trial and Moot Court adviser.

Heather Higdon, Indian Hill School District Five Summit students earn perfect score on National Latin Exam Five students at The Summit Country Day School earned a perfect score on the 45th annual National Latin Exam (NLE). Less than of students who took the exam earned a perfect score. Emily Bolan, Callie Fox, Aaron Fraley, Kate McLane and Mia Rahner were the students who earned perfect scores. In addition to taking the NLE, Irene won a special book award for earning a fourth-consecutive Gold Medal. Silver Medal Maxima Cum Laude Chike Anusionwu, Haley Baker, Benedict Domville, Allison Ebken, Jimmy Fraley, Cecilia Hasan, Addison Golden, Zaina Kamran, Ethan Lam, Claire Lamarre and Harper Wood. Magna Cum Laude Mia Cavallo, Kathryn Daniher, Wali Khan, Maddie Mescher, Benny Penote, Christopher Reuter, Kendall Richard and Lorenzo Rose. Cum Laude Abby Almaguer, Parker Bricking, Anneliese Brouw- er, Jillian Chavez, Jackson Curt, Alex Davies, Drew Fletcher, Sam Hinton, Logan Miller, Samuel Parker, Eli Sparks and Jennifer Sullivan. Over 88,000 students from all 50 states and 20 for- eign countries took the 40-question multiple choice examination. Nick Robbe, The Summit Country Day School CHCA students earn The Volunteer Service Award Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy is proud to an- nounce that 58 students have earned The Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). The PVSA is the premier national volunteer awards program, encouraging citizens to live a life of service. Those earning the prestigious service award receive presidential gratitude and national recognition. Service hours are measured over a 12-month period and awards are designated based on cumulative hours.

The awards are in multiple levels and are de- signed to recognize each milestone of service achieve- ment. Levels include bronze, silver, gold, and the high- est honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award for those who contribute more than 4,000 hours of service in their lifetime. The education recognition program is an annual event, but it held special this year, as a na- tional pandemic required teachers and administrators to new ways to connect with students and par- ents, said Interim CPS Superintendent Tianay Amat, who presented the awards. In Sook Kim, who teaches Korean at James N.

Gam- ble Montessori High School in Westwood, received the Community Service Award. She routinely extends learning beyond the classroom, holding after school activities, including creating a Korean Festival. Kim also is on the steering committee for the World Lan- guage Council. Eric Rozier, principal of Cincinnati Digital Academy, won the Administrator of the Year award. As the pan- demic necessitated virtual learning opportunities, Ro- student base went from 700 students to 2200 students, and his went from 30 to more than 100, said Amat.

Jennifer Miller, teacher at Fairview-Clifton German Language School, received the Innovator of the Year award. Miller developed new ways to keep students on track during the pandemic, encouraging students to set target goals and employ visual markers to chart success. Miller also works with the Math Club where over 100 students come in an hour early to increase their math skills through fun projects. Natasha Taylor, English as a Second Language teacher at Pleasant Ridge Montessori School, received the Humanitarian of the Year Award. Meggan Johnson Glover, intervention specialist at Woodward Career Technical High School in Bond Hill, received the Teacher of the Year award.

The Rotary Club of Cincinnati initiated the Rotary Awards more than a decade ago to honor excellence in key public service professions. Along with the Rotary presented $1000 to Cincinnati public Schools for teacher development.
