Before many days tba Cincinnati Union Stoek Tsrds will be thrown Into commotion a baa the scheme that is bow known only to a few will be put Into operation. Those directly Interested, aad upon whom the blow will fail with crushing effect, have bad no intimation of Its coming. For the past week a quiet canvas has been made among all the comlssion firms who hs.ve dealings at the stockyards, and la understood that almost all have agreed to enter into an agreement which will probably go Into effect on the first of ths year. TMs agreement Is that all the com mission Arms consolidsts in so far as to employ only one set of men to do their work st the stockyards. Under the present system esch firm has from one to three men employed at tha yards, who receive targe salaries.

Quite a number are paid aa high as 12.000 per year for the trade they control In the country, being- of no other service to the firm by which they are employed. It can readily be seen that if these firms can, without Injury to their interests, have mutual employes to attend to that branch of tbelr business it will be attended by a Urge saving In salaries amounting to thousands every year. On the other hand, however. It will throw a treat many men out of employment who have spent almost a lifetime tn acquiring Lhe knowledge ths which baa peculiarly fitted them for this particular Dusinesa. At tha meeting this week' of the Live Block Commission Merchants' Aasocistlon ths matter will be definitely settled.

The rojectors of the scheme are sanguine that is feasibility will be recognised by tb commission men In general and that they will meet with no oppoe.lion in carrying it out- Did yeu see the crowds at BMlnto'a BatardayT A SUCCESS Was tba New Piajr, "The Wis Woman of the East." The success of the musical and literary entertainment given by the seniors of the Wyoming School last Friday will probably be ths spur to other efforts In near future. Much of the praise for thi excellence of the performance falls on Mr. Louis M. Thayer, who with his maiden effort, -'The Wise Woman of the East," received the merited encomiums of those who were fortunate to be present. In conception, scope and construction the play is entitled to rnk with the productions of more pretentious playwrights, and gives promise of great talent in the yonng author.
