"Sam" was an admitted member In whose loyalty there was no guile. During last summer ne procured the appointment and commission of Mall Route Agent on a Kentucky railroad for a friend of his who had been a commissioned officer In a regiment of Kentucky oav airy. The newly appointed official waited on the venerable Jesse, and discussed vsrious matters with him, finally displaying to the Presidential paternal optics bis commission, procured by the McKee Influence. There are several arrowlnc villages and towns between tble point and Lexington, on the Kentucky Central; Tbe largest Is Paris, Cyntblaua the next, aud Falmouth next; being the county seals, respectively, of Bourbon, Harrison and Pendleton counties. Catawba. Butler, Boston and Morgan are laces growing In Importance; and considerable shipping of wheat, hemp, dtc, the products of the "Blue Urass' region is done at Lowe's, Hutchison and other point. There are extensive distilleries at Lair's, and other points not mentioned here. North of this station are Mullins, Benton, and Canton; Grant's where the "big tunnel" la situated Colbertson's where an enterprising Teuton has established an extensive toe-pond and De Courcy, the first station from Covington. The Ken tucky Central Railroad has called Into Deing a majority or these Tillages, and tbe others owe considerable of their im portance to the same thoroughfare.

The Covington and Colemansville Turnpike Is to be com pleted to me three rorka or Grassy Creek" a mile from this nlaoe bv the first day of December. This will be a road me importance or which will be appreciated by the citizens of Kenton and Pendleton counties I do not know that any time is set for the completion of this road to the southern terminus, Colemansville; but I think the citlsens of Pendleton and Harrison should use their efforts to have It put through at an early day. They, aadoubtediv.ahould Interest them selves in road affairs, for, in this respect, there Is mnchToom for Improvement. in Bauer, ine next, station south of this place, considerable improvement" have been made.

Mr. Hhaw, Mr. B. Hymer, Mr. Cowlen, Dr Harris, and others, have erected several buildings.

Our younir mercantile friend, Mr. Robert Shaw, has ensconced himself In his new and commo dious establishment, where, with his gea- tiemaniy neao cierx, Mr. Lam. el ton, assisted by our old friend Mr. Lewis I must not iorget Bennle Wheeler he will attend to tbe requirements of his old friends, who are "legion." They have not abandoned the Idea of building a bridge across the Licking at Butler, and there la no earthly reason why they should.

If the thing la considered in tcs Una light. I think they lack somewhere in the neighborhood of five thousand dollars, aod that drawback SDOuld certainly disappear before the really enterprising citizens of this village. Butler will sustain a loss of a good citizen, the Kentucky Central that of au etli oient officer, and Pendleton County the loss of a Democratic vote, bv tbe withdrawal from their midst of Mr. II. Calvert, who next week makes hla home In Boone County, Kentucky.

I wish Mr. C. the success and happiness which he well deserve. The Butler String Baud also will miss their leader. In closing this letter, which, from the dearth of news, I am compelled to make up in personal and topograuhloal notice, 1 will mention the names of some of those who have ahown themselves workers for the Enqcirkr.

Forty-four bodies have been found and relnterred at the Battle Grove Cemetery, In the lot donated for that purpose by the Association. The names of those that have been recognized are: H. 8. Dean, Thomas Rowland, Jacksonville, Klnselow, W.Scott, Heron, Hunt, St. Peter King, Arkansas: Captain KenneU, T.

W. Terry, Packett, J. K. Blood worth, Gallatin. John Terrell, J.

M. Mid-dleton, Bordeaun, Knoxville, Lieutenant J. 1L Williams, Pike County, Tenth Rett-nient Kentucky Cavalry Dave May, Pike County, Tenth Regiment Kentucky Cavalry; W. DlalCampbell County, Tenth Regiment Kentucky -Lyon, Southern Kentucky; two of Gen-' eral Heath's staff, unknown, Christiana-burg, Va.r and twenty-four others, unknown. Their remains lie tinder, the shadow or sn elegant and chaste monument, recently erected upon the spot which John Morgan made hUtorie aa being tha ad- van oe of the last charge that daring chieftain ever made.
