About religion Religion news is published at no charge on a space-available basis. E-mail announcements to RELIGION In an effort to serve the surrounding community, the members of Calvin Presbyterian Church at 1155 Ohio Pike in Amelia are reaching beyond their walls by visiting people in nursing homes and reading with children in local schools. The church members have already been serving monthly meals at Sauls Homeless Center in Batavia and participating in Southeastern Ecumenical Ministry and Interparish Ministry Food Pantries. In addition to these mission programs already in place, as a part of the Presbytery-wide mission program of Transformation 2 .0, the members are re- ponding to the questions of, is God up to out ahead of us in our neighborhoods and how do we participate more fully in what God is up The Transformation 2.0 Committee has been involved with these utreach programs for everal months with members visiting residents at SEM Haven Nursing Home in Milford and Sunrise Manor in Amelia. discovered that some nursing home residents have few visitors and welcome weekly vis- i ts from church members.

ther members have been listening to children read to them at Holly Hill and Merwin elementary schools. The kids are excited about the special attention which getting from volunteers. Since the initial experiences have been very successful, the committee is urging the congregation to expand this ministry by getting more people involved. In the present times of brokenness, church members see themselves responding to challenge to Peter when he asked him to my and my In con- emporary language, the hallenge is to out into the world believing that life is good, but if you find it not so, help make it Calvin Presbyterian sees itself as little church that with an emphasis on giving of our time, not just money. Church members are aware of evil both in individuals and society, but they endeavor to reach out and be part of compassionate transformation, in the church and in the community, to redeem the lonely and lost.

The church is always looking for those Christians who have a similar passion and calling to come alongside and be a part of its mission a nd outreach. Calvin Presbyterian Church moves into community PROVIDED Calvin Presbyterian Church embers Pat Case and Bill Goetz visit esidents at SEM Haven nursing home..
