Kuhiman was born in Cincinnati, OH, a daughter of George Geist and Anna Wadosky Geist. She was predeceased by a grandson Kenneth Kazmierski of IL. She received her degree from the University of Cincinnati and worked in the Cincinnati area with the Travelers Aid Society and Associated Charities before going to Washington, DC where she was employed by the US Navy Department in the Office of the Secretary of the Navy and later was transferred to the Charleston Naval Facility. In 1960 she married Clarence Kuhiman, a professor at the Citadel. Ruth was active in the ticket office for the Dock Street Theater, the American Red Cross Blood Drives and the Citadel Wives Club.

Surviving are one son, Jerry L. Moss and his wife Jeane of Naples, FL, one daughter Marian Kazmierski of Lisle, IL, four grandchildren Sandra Bionco of IN, Jane Moss, Mary Anne Prah and William Kazmierski all of IL.
