64 WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 1, 1997 METRO THE CINCINNATI ENQUIRER Obituaries William Reck assisted with spiritual quests Miami Twp. man chief of Catholic publisher BY SHARON MORGAN The Cincinnati Enquirer MIAMI TOWNSHIP William A. Reck was known as a "spiritual warrior" devoted to God and to helping others get closer to God, relatives said. Mr. Reck died of a heart attack Satur- day at his Clermont County home.

The Miami Township resident was 63. "He wanted to do all he could to bring more souls to an awareness of God's love and mercy," said his daughter, Mary Ann Liming of Mr. Reck Miami Township. "He Mr. Reck knew that the reason we live is to journey to Heaven, and he wanted many people to be there for the party God has in store for us." When his wife, Frances, died in 1994, Mr.

Reck continued to devote his time as president and chairman of the board of The Riehle Foundation and Faith Publishing Co. The family-owned Riehle Foundation in Miami Township is a non-profit distributor of Catholic literature, established in 1976 by his father-in-law, Raymond Riehle. Mr. Riehle preceded him in death. -In 1990, the Faith Publishing Co.

was founded to meet the demands of bookstores for the materials that the Riehle Foundation was providing to individuals, churches and ministries, said Laurie Balbach-Taylor of Milford, general manager of Faith Publishing Co. in Miami Township. "In the five years that I've worked for Mr. Reck, his sense of balance between the importance of eternal life and our life here on earth was a great inspiration," Mrs. Taylor said.

Bonnie Lewis of Loveland, who volunteered for the Riehle Foundation before becoming general manager, said that she "felt secure working with Bill. You could depend on him." His endeavors in spreading the Catholic faith included distributing many religious books across the world with a personal visit to Bosnia and Croatia. He also participated in a symposium of world leaders at the Dayton Peace Accords Revisited Conference at the University of Dayton and welcomed foster children into his home, participating in programs of the Foster Parents and Big Brother associations. While working as a commercial real estate agent during the 1970s and 1980s, Mr. Reck volunteered as a children's sports coach.

He and his wife co-founded the Clermont County Mental Health Association in the late 1970s and served on the board of directors of McNicholas High School. The Elder High School graduate served two years in the Army. Mr. Reck is also survived by a son, Daniel Reck of Amelia; two sisters, Marian Ellerhorst of Mack and Evelyn Maag of Fairfield; a brother, J. Rodney Reck of Hartford, and seven grandchildren.
