30-Fuod THE CINCINNATI ENQUIRER Wednesday, May 14, 1975 Bring Festival Time Home i It's getting to be festival time all over the world. It's fun to notice what foods are considered special at these various festivals and then see if some of these foods might not be enjoyed here at home. For Instance, in the Bahamas, from June through September, it will be Goombay Summer festival time, with street dances, Island boat races, the Royal Bahamas Police Band on parade and, of course, taste-tempting Island delicacies. Many of the dishes served will use the conch, a seafood from the pearly shell of a mollusk indigenous to those parts. But the rum punch cocktail that the Bahamians call Goombay Smash is easily made here in Ohio.

Its fruity taste is delightful. MUa I kTOR with your name, address andupcodeto: KELLOGG'S KASH Send with your name, address Like all tournament players the college students have their own ideas about the bidding but South's weak opening two club bid followed the present trend. North bid three diamonds which, according to the system being used, was forcing and asked for a major suit. South obliged with three hearts, North bid four no-trump (Blackwood) and South bid five diamonds, showing one ace.

North bid five no-trump and South bid six clubs, showing no kings, and North bid six hearts. West led the Jack of diamonds, dummy's queen was covered by East with the king and South won with the ace. A CLUB WAS led to dummy's ace, the ace of hearts was cashed and a low heart was led to South's queen and, when West's Jack dropped, South picked up the remaining trumps, discarding a diamond from his hand. South then discarded two diamonds on the ace and king of spades, cashed the king of clubs and, when the queen fell, South won the remaining tricks with the good clubs. One would think that McGill University, which Is Charles Goren's alma mater, would have been pleased with this score but it was not even close to a top.

In fact it was only half above average. IT WAS BEATEN by Ohio State's team who bid and made seven no-trump and by the University of Pennsylvania, who bid six no-trump, making seven, and by Chicago, who doubled a vulnerable two diamond contract by West which was set 1100 points.
