TWO FIREMEN Injured In Accident When Fire Truck Runs Fallen Streetcar Cable-Two Buildings Damaged.

Two firemen were injured last night when the fire truck in which they were riding ran under a fallen Cincinnati Street Railway Company cable at Seventy-first and Vine Streets. The driver, Charles Kramer, 36 years old, 154 West Seventy-third Street, and Lieutenant Robert Hamilton, 40, 164 Acor Terrace, sufffered cuts on the face and minor electrical shock. Hamilton was released from General Hospital after receiving treatment, but Kramer remained at the hospital. The pumper truck from Company 9 was summoned after the cable fell, lodging on electric signs at 7047 Vine Street and 7207 Vine Street, more than a block away. The charged cable caused short-circuits and blew out switch boxes at both buildings.

of Each owner reported $25, according shal Chester Held. Held said the truck was moving west on Seventy-first Street, and was being slowed for a stop. Kramer, apparently not seeing the fallen cable, drove directly under it. The truck was not damaged. River Traffic Halted By Canal Drawbridge May Take Few Days To Replace Bearing At Louisville.

Louisville, June 2-(UP)- The passage of a normal freight traffic through the Louisville and Portland Canal depended tonight on how fast the Pensylvania Railroad can repair the lifting mechanism in a railway bridge over the canal. One excursion steamer, the Idlewild, was trapped already above the bridge, unable to return to its berth at the foot of Fourth Street. W. T. Gregory of the United States Engineers Office said the span could not be raised until A bearing was replaced, and railroad officials said the bearing could not be obtained for three or four days.

Meanwhile, several large towboats were dragging barges toward the stuck bridge. They will be forced to wait until the bridge is lifted, shear off their stacks and pilot houses scraping under it.
