In 1962, the senate voted down the medicare bill backed by President Kennedy. In 1965, B-52 bombers from Guam hit targets in South Vietnam for the first time. Ten years ago In Pusan, Korea, a sudden storm caused a stampede at an outdoor show, and 47 persons were trampled to death. He was head of the department of English from 1943 to 1966 and had continued at UC since 1966 as a professor. Before going to UC in 1931, he -was instructor of English at Amherst College, Amherst, Mass. A contributor of many articles on English literature and literary history to various periodicals, Dr. Clark also was the author of several books. In 1949, Dr.

Clark received the Sachs prize from the Cincinnati Institute of Fine Arts for his outstanding achievements in literature. Dr. Clark received his bachelor of arts degree in 1921 from Amherst College. Surviving are his wife, qirl. Oscar; beloved husband of Mayme CALLAHAN-Mrs.

Since leaving Edgecliff, he had been professor of philosophy at Siena College, Adrian, Mich. His parents, now dead, were natives of Greater Cincinnati. In 1932, the family moved to the East.
