The CSO locates students and matches them with a CSO orchestra I. 3e JEf A A Jessica Bodner, rising international star violist, accompanied by Cincinnati's own international star and UC CCM Artist-in-Residence and professor of piano, Elizabeth Prido-noff, will perform together in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Our Saviour, United Methodist, 8005 Pfieffer Road.

All proceeds for the concert will support youth musicians with interest in classical music who cannot afford instrumental lessons. The Benjamin Carlson-Berne Memorial Scholarship was established by Ben's parents, Wyoming residents Susan Carlson and Philip Berne, to commemorate their son's commitment to sharing classical music with children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to take lessons. Ben died in 2002 at age 19 in an accident. The scholarship pays for a year of musical instrument lessons, and is renewable annually. The student's music study is supported through age 18, or high school graduation.

The success of this scholarship is the result of a creative partnership with the Cincinnati Symphony Or- cans of food were donated. Nationwide, 17,288 groups are participating, including two Love-land-area churches, St. Margaret of York and St. Columban. At St.

Margaret of York, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade parishioners collect items after each of the three weekend masses, according to Marci Peebles, director of youth ministry. In 2006 they received more than $1,800. The money was donated to St. Mark's Food Pantry in Norwood and St. Michael outreach downtown, Peebles said.

If enough funds are donated this year, they also might donate to St. Vincent DePaul. Volunteers at St. Columban also will collect items after each mass, according to Dolores Angel. The donations are given to Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Cincinnati.

These items, together with donations of food and finances, will be given to Hope Emergency Food Pantry in Fayetteville, Ohio, as part of the nationwide Souper Bowl of Caring event Sunday. The SBC asks youth to raise funds to fight hunger and poverty in local communities as well as around the world, with a goal of raising $8 million this year. Groups choose where to donate their funds.
